Rice Box Kitchen is one of Reno's top Midtown restaurants, celebrated for its Asian-inspired, flavorful, and comforting cuisine. The restaurant is known for its fun and frequently changing specials, fun events and tastings, along with phenomenal and welcoming service.
Like many other discoveries, Yelp led me to Rice Box Kitchen.
I called in one day and placed an order for one of RBK's Thai-style signature dishes - KHAO MUN GAI - Poached chicken skinless chicken thighs over coconut, ginger and garlic rice served with soybean chili sauce. Quality ingredients were cooked to perfection and served in a harmonious and comforting way. At first taste, I found the meal to be comforting and irresistibly addictive. The coconut rice was amazing. I could eat it all by itself and when paired with perfectly cooked chicken and super fresh and flavorful housemade sauce, it made for the perfect meal.
Also available are high tea dim sum and Shabu Shabu, a Japanese-style meal where thinly sliced meats and other ingredients are cooked in a pot of boiling broth at the table and served with a dipping sauce. Both options are absolutely delicious.
In addition to comforting food, the drinks and desserts here are amazing and essential to complete your meal. For dessert, you can enjoy mochi cakes in a variety of flavors. Mochi cakes are Japanese style desserts made from glutinous rice flour that has a chewy & addictive flavor that one can never get enough of.
Rice Box is part of Yelp's top 100 restaurants in the nation, rightfully earned. I hope you make it out and get a taste of this delicious food for yourself.
