Snapped in front of Great Basin Food Co-op, 4/2025. This place is such a gem, perfect for hanging during spring (or anytime of the year, really). |
Have you ever seen a blooming tree on a partly sunny day, backed by snow-capped mountains, with birds singing in the background like they just flew in from a Disney movie? At random moments in spring (honestly, in all seasons, just with different magic in the mix), I’ll be driving, walking into a store, hiking, or running errands when I suddenly notice a scene like that right here in town. And every time, I pause and think: How does something this beautiful even exist?!
I know I’m always rambling about how special life is, but I really do believe it, especially here in Reno.
It’s kind of funny thinking back to when I was trying to come up with the perfect name for this blog. I thought sooo long and hard, going in circles, until I finally just gave in to the obvious: my deep love for Reno. I knew "Loving Reno" might not be the most strategic name for search engines, but I didn’t care. I wanted something that would hopefully attract likeminded people who feel the same way. And sure enough, that’s exactly what’s happened (thank so much for being here). So here I am, sharing all the beauty, excitement, and goodness that make up this city and region I adore.
Which brings me to this post that includes curated list of upcoming events in and around Reno, along with spring activities, recurring favorites, and more ways to enjoy this magical season.
Spring in Northern Nevada is one of the best-kept secrets. The weather is just right - not so cold your ears feel like they’ll fall off, and not so hot you feel like you're melting into a puddle (lol). Not to mention the epic backdrops to experience around every corner.
Spring is short-lived, lasting only about two to three months, so it’s the perfect time to soak it up with outdoor fun and fresh-air adventures. Personally, I try to get outside as much as possible. And yes, I drag my whole family along because it’s just that good for the soul.
If you love this kind of content, come hang out with me on Instagram @lovingreno775, where I share even more local gems and behind-the-scenes moments that may not have made it onto the blog just yet.
I'll be sure to update this guide with any events I may have missed or new ones that pop up, so be sure to check back.
I hope this guide helps you find joy, connection, and adds a little epic in your days.
With love,
Kat
Notes*Some events listed below require reservations or tickets. Many fill up quickly, so I recommend booking as soon as possible to secure your spot!*This post is purely a reflection of my love for our city and years of personal, firsthand experience. In other words, it is not sponsored.

Located about 28 miles north of Reno, nestled in the quiet hills of Washoe County, this incredible nonprofit serves as a rehabilitation center and safe haven for injured, orphaned, and non-releasable animals. From majestic predators to smaller wildlife, every resident here has a story, and Animal Ark makes sure each one is treated with compassion and respect.
They host educational programs, seasonal events, and engaging presentations that make every visit fun and meaningful for all ages. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly outing, a peaceful nature experience, or a way to support animal conservation - Animal Ark is a win for everyone.
I highly recommend becoming a member. Not only does it support their amazing work, but it also gives you year-round access to a truly special place that I love retreating to again and again.

I think I speak for many parents & guardians when I say: we just want the best for our kids. What that looks like can vary, but for me, it means surrounding them with joy, great role models, and safe spaces where they can stretch their legs and be 100% themselves, without constantly being told they’re “too much” or “being bad.” It makes a huge difference when I know there’s a place where they can just be. They get to learn, grow, make friends, and chase that magical, carefree feeling we all remember from childhood.
Andelin Farm has been around for about 16 years, and if you know them, you know they go all out every season. They’re famous for their epic fall festival, Corn Creepers, and Zombie Paintball, but their Spring and Summer festivals are just as magical (and way less crowded). If you haven’t been, I truly think it's the ideal place to grow lasting memories.

Have you been to our incredible museum yet? If not, let me just say that it’s one of my favorite places to spend time in all of Reno. The space itself is stunning, with multiple levels to explore, and it's so much more than just a museum. It features a fantastic cafe, a theater that plays documentaries throughout the day, one of the best gift shops in town, a seasonal demonstration garden, and a rooftop that offers all the views and all the vibes.
Throughout the year, they host some truly amazing events, including their annual For the Love of Art fundraiser, which is such a fun event to attend. You can expect live entertainment, gallery tours, gourmet meals, a thoughtfully curated shopping experience, raffles, and more at the fundraiser.
Every Second Saturday, the museum opens its doors to the public for free and fills the day with special programming and activities. What an amazing opportunity to experience art, community, and creativity, and that's without spending a dime. I can’t say it enough: I absolutely LOVE this museum.
And if you're looking to dive even deeper, definitely check out their website for the full list of classes offered through the E.L. Cord Museum School. Painting, ceramics, sewing, photography are only a few of many types of classes offered at the museum.
Tickets include a personal pizza and beverage for one child and one adult. Adults 21+ can choose from a draft beer, house wine, or the signature "Honey, Dew You" Sangria.
Expect an appearance by Peter Rabbit, an Easter egg hunt, and photo ops.
Plus, complimentary garlic-parmesan fries are included.

Easter at Heavenly is such a vibe. I’ve taken my three kiddos to this event about four times now, and the memories we’ve made over the years? Totally priceless. They stay fresh in my mind like they happened yesterday.
The drive from Reno to South Lake Tahoe is a scenic little road trip that always feels like a treat in itself. Not to mention, South Lake Tahoe is a world-class destination. Tourist-filled or not, I’ll always be a loyal visitor. Its charm is just undeniable. Since Heavenly Village is the heart of it all, you’ll find endless things to do, tons of food spots to try, and nearby attractions that make it the perfect day trip (or weekend getaway).
Every time I’m in the Village, I feel like I’m on vacation, and not just because everything’s priced like one, LOL. It’s just such a lively, beautiful place to hang out. Even a simple stroll through the Village feels special. Now, take that vibe and add in an Easter egg hunt, some live music, a little exploring… maybe dinner and a movie? That’s a recipe for a magical day.
*Fire & Ice always offer and add-on breakfast with the Easter bunny before the hunt. If interested, snag tickets in advance as it always sells out before the day of the event.
*Build-your-own bunny kit also usually available as an add-on. Definitely worth doing at least once.
*The egg hunts take place on the grassy area right next to the gondola and Fire & Ice.
*The Village even has its own cinema if you want to catch a movie.
*If the main garage is full, there’s a parking lot across the street near Lake Parkway (by the cinema).
Bonus tip:
Check out the Sunday Matinee Magic shows at The Loft. Kids get in free (1 free per each paying adult), and the magicians rotate weekly, always talented and super entertaining. The Loft also has a cozy little lounge and bar upstairs, perfect for hanging & winding down. (They do take reservations.)

Did you know that Genoa, located just one hour south of Reno, holds the distinction of being Nevada's first settlement?
I had the pleasure of discovering Genoa during their annual Candy Dance Festival a few years ago, and let me tell you, it's a quaint and charming town that’s definitely worth a visit. I’ve fallen in love with it, and I’m sure you will too.
Though small in size, its undeniable charm set against a breathtaking backdrop makes it a top destination, even on an ordinary day. You truly have to experience it to understand what I mean.
Just an hour from South Reno and only 25 minutes from Lake Tahoe, Genoa offers the perfect blend of history, character, and outdoor adventure. Whether you're visiting for a day trip or a longer stay, it’s a must-see spot in the area.

Kaileigh & Chase were so amazing at The Loft. |
When I stumbled across the news that GSR is opening a brand-new magic theater, I was absolutely over the moon. Having seen the incredible & wondrous performers, Kaileigh & Chase, soon-to-be permanent magician hosts of White Rabbit Theater, perform at The Loft at Heavenly Village, I know firsthand just how captivating and unforgettable their shows can be.
There’s something so special, timeless, and universal about magic. It brings out wonder, joy, and that spark of childlike awe we all need a little more of. While Magique, with its grand illusions & fashion, has done a fantastic job holding down the fort when it comes to magic in Reno, I think we all can all agree that there's definitely room for more wonder.
Riverside Farmer's Market is our year-round market, home to a wide variety of amazing small businesses, including services, farmers, food trucks, crafters, bakers, and other artisans.
During major events, Riverside Farmer's Market pulls out all the stops, creating an amazing atmosphere with entertainment for adults and children alike.
Mother's Day Boutique and Fall Festival are their biggest markets of the year, though every other market contains just as much magic. It's really the village vibes that make this market appealing year-round.
At the upcoming boutique, enjoy live music from local musicians, participate in free classes, get the children busy with fun and engaging crafts, and treat your taste buds to an array of delightful cuisines, all while finding everything you need for an unforgettable Mother's Day celebration.
It's important to note that the market's home, Idlewild Park, is one of our biggest and most dynamic parks in Reno, worthy of a visit all on its own. Just imagine adding a village market in the middle of all this natural beauty - magic.
Notes:
-I always aim to arrive early to events to secure the best parking spot, although there is a good amount available at Idlewild Park and the neighborhoods surrounding it.

Reno’s year-round Riverside Farmers Market, created by the awesome folks at @premafarm, was built with one mission in mind - to give local farmers, crafters, and artisans a welcoming space to share their work with the community.
In the winter, there’s plenty of open space to soak up the sunshine, and in the summer, you’ll find shady trees, green grass, and a beautiful setting right along the Truckee River.
What I love most about this market is the incredible sense of community. It’s a place that truly celebrates local talent, from farmers and bakers to musicians, food trucks, and artists. The standards are high, the vibes are just right, and the support for small, local businesses is something really special.
